2005 Maintenance Performed on CG36500
In addition to the normal bottom, deck and topside painting, the following tasks were accomplished during the April haulout:
- Scrape, prime and paint white the interior of the lazarette.
- Wash, prime and paint the interior of the survivors compartment.
- Sandblast, prime and paint the kedge anchor.
- Powerwash, scrape, prime and paint both gear lockers.
- Replace 12 volt alternator, drive belt & bracket.
- Procure and install new dodger as per original plans.
- Procure and install new stern lettering.
- Replace Camp #A-30 keel, R-3 rudder, & 1 1/2 shaft zincs.
- Fabricate and install upper parts of stern mooring bitts.
- Replace 7 machine bolts for each bit bracket.
- Powerwash and paint engine compartment gratings.
- Sand, prime, and paint Detroit Diesel 4-71 engine.
- Install new cutlass bearing.
Note: Paints used are Interlux 220 Semi-gloss White, TruValue Gloss White, Interlux Bottomkote Red #49, and George W. Kirby Sundowner Buff.
In excess of thirty nine man days were expended by a dedicated group of volunteers in accomplishing the above tasks. The crew and the Orleans Historical Society are deeply grateful to the J.W. Dubis Co. of Chatham for their donation of a suitable space for us to perform the work required.
