2004 Maintenance Performed on CG36500
Done During Early Spring:
- Change engine oil and filter.
Done During Spring Haulout in April:
- Sand, prime, and paint topsides white.
- Scrape and paint bottom and boottop.
- Sand, prime and paint buff areas.
- Fabricate and install drip edges over hatch doors.
- Remove two original mooring bitts forward and replace with old growth yellow
- pine. Let in brass half oval on corners to prevent chafing.
- Remove, rebed, and refasten bronze half oval on coamings.
- Replace all hose clamps and replace some piping on engine.
- Replace muffler.
- Varnish windshield and bridge deck.
- Install Nicro-Fico solar vent on engine compartment.
- Repair cleats on deck lockers
- Attach sacrificial zincs to bronze keel, rudder, and shaft..
- Apply new vessel lettering forward.
Done in the Summer:
- Reinforce suspension of muffler and exhaust piping.
- Remove section of cast iron exhaust flange and replace with stainless section.
- Wrap repaired exhaust section with fiberglass tape.
- Procure and install new VDO tachometer / hour meter.
- Tighten shaft stuffing box as needed.
- Procure sewn coded signal flags (C G 3 6 5 0 0 ) and fly when appropriate.
- Add distilled water to both batteries.
Done in the Fall:
Replace keel and rudder zincs at time of boat move from Rock Harbor to Meetinghouse Pond, Orleans. (This was done while the boat was on the trailer.)
- Attach leather chafing gear to dock lines where needed.
- Attach brass plates to top of mooring bitts.
- Change engine oil and filter.
- Remove and stow gear not needed aboard.
- Remove gratings from engine compartment, scrub clean, and return.
- Cover steering wheel and windshield area with custom canvas coverings.
